2 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ JANUARY 2020 P ilates has long been recog- nized as a great form of exercise for people of all ages and abilities. It promotes strength, flexibility, and balance, and can be an excellent way for those recovering from surgery or injuries to regain strength while minimizing impact on joints. But if you've never done it be- fore, Pilates can also seem intim- idating. How do I stand? Will I be able to execute the moves? How do I use all the equipment? Will I make a fool of myself? Thankfully, Los Cab Sports Village is offering a number of ways for those curious about Pi- lates to try it and learn more. The club's Pilates Open House will be held January 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., offering mat classes and Reformer classes. "This will include a funda- mentals class that will educate participants in the principles and purpose of Pilates," said Head Fitness Trainer Peggy Pocher, "as well as a fundamentals Reformer class that will educate on thera- peutic techniques to help stay strong and injury-free." With an expected rise in inter- est this time of year, the club has added new classes to its Re- former schedule, now offering the discipline four days a week. In addition to the classes that were previously on the calendar, there will be a 10 a.m. Monday session with Luba Krym as well as sessions with Pocher on Tues- days and Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. Additionally, the club will be offering free Pilates Reformer intro classes once a month, vary- ing the dates and times in order to accommodate members' schedules. Advance registration is required, and details will be posted at the front desk as ses- sions are added to the schedule. .................................................... > VISIT loscab.com/yoga-pilates-trx. ● UPCOMING STRECHING OUT ■ LOS CAB IS MAKING IT EASIER TO EXPERIENCE PILATES NEWS YOU CAN USE ..............................
