SEPTEMBER 2019 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ 7 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT HIGH HOPES ■ THAO LE HEADS TO MEDICAL SCHOOL WITH PLENTY OF FOND MEMORIES OF HER TIME AT LOS CAB F or Thao Le, Los Caballeros Sports Village has long been a major part of her life. A member for nearly 20 years and an em- ployee who served as events director and worked on the tennis desk for the last four years, Le will carry with her endless fond memories as she leaves the club to start the next chapter in her life. Le recently enrolled at Michigan State to pursue a medical degree. She will study general medicine and won't have to zero in on an area of specialty until her fourth year, but will surely put in plenty of long hours as she works toward her lifelong goal of becoming a doctor. If she is as dedicated to her stud- ies as she was to her posi- tion as Los Cab, success is no doubt on the horizon. And while she is excited about chasing her dreams, she will miss the many things that made Los Cab a special place for her. "This was probably one of the favorite jobs that I've ever had," Le said. "What I love and will miss most about Los Cab is definitely the community." Le's former duties at the club will be divided between Ana Lopez, who will handle club-wide events such as holiday pool parties, and Tracy Harris, who will manage for tennis-specific events like Doo-Dahs and tournaments. Le said she owes a debt of gratitude to all the people who have been part of her world during her nearly two decades at Los Cab. "My experience at the club goes beyond the tennis desk," Le said. "I've met the most amazing directors, supervisors, staff and members. I truly believe that it's through their positivity, support, and encourage- ment that I'm even in medical school. I am forever grateful and will miss them very much." That's another reason why I have stayed there – because they're al- ways keeping up with changes in the fitness world and offering the best equipment. I know other people at the club appreciate it, too. ◆ ◆ ◆ What is your normal fitness rou- tine at Los Cab? My workout regi- men includes a weight-training program Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and on Tuesdays and Thurs- days, I go play pickleball at another facility. On Fridays, I get my work- out in early and then play pickleball with some friends at Los Cab. I start my workouts with a 15-minute ses- sion on the elliptical machines, then do a 90-minute routine with the weights. ◆ ◆ ◆ Tell us a little about the commu- nity aspect of Los Cab. Does it feel a bit like family here? I have several good friends at Los Cab that I have known for 20 years or more. There are quite a few people who are here day after day, year after year, and many of them have become really good friends. We so- cialize not only at the club, but also outside the club. It helps to have that social group, especially since I have been retired and don't have those daily interactions that you get at your job. ◆ ◆ ◆ What do you like to do when you're not working out? I enjoy spending time with my wife, Linda, and our three kids and six grandchil- dren. I've been retired since 2010, but before that I kept busy teaching, coaching and officiating wrestling at the high school, junior college and college levels. Thao Le: "What I love and will miss most about Los Cab is definitely the community."
