.....................
LIGHT
UP
FRIDAY
NIGHTS
F
riday
Night
Team
Tennis
is
back
at
Los
Cab
and
is
expected
to
bring
a
new
level
of
ex-
citement
to
the
courts
under
the
lights.
Starting
June
1,
the
program
will
offer
a
com-
petitive
atmosphere
and
the
fun
and
camaraderie
of
team
play,
mixed
with
the
social
element
of
get-
ting
together
with
friends
to
wrap
up
the
work
week.
Teams
will
consist
of
4-
8
players
ages
21
and
older,
and
each
Friday
there
will
be
men's
dou-
bles,
women's
doubles
and
mixed
doubles
com-
petition
leading
up
to
season-ending
playoffs.
"I
think
our
Friday
Night
Team
Tennis
will
be
a
little
more
of
a
social
experience
for
our
mem-
bers,
but
of
course
peo-
ple
like
keeping
score
and
having
a
winner,"
Head
Tennis
Professional
Chris
Baar
said.
"We'll
have
a
barbecue
after
play
each
week,
so
peo-
ple
can
stick
around
and
relax
after
play."

ACTIVITIES
DOUBLES
TIME
■
CLUB
CHAMPIONSHIPS
SET
FOR
THE
FIRST
WEEKEND
IN
MAY
T
he
annual
men's
and
women's
doubles
club
championships
are
set
for
May
5-6
at
Los
Cab
Sports
Village,
and
the
competition
on
the
courts
is
sure
to
be
fierce.
More
than
100
players
are
ex-
pected
to
register,
Head
Tennis
Pro-
fessional
Chris
Baar
said,
and
for
each
gender
there
will
be
an
open
di-
vision
for
the
top
players,
divisions
for
players
from
3.0
to
5.0
and
age
di-
visions.
Entrants
are
welcome
to
compete
in
both
their
skill
level
and
age
brackets.
"Typically,
more
people
play
dou-
bles
at
the
club
level
than
singles,
so
this
championship
usually
draws
more
players
than
our
singles
cham-
pionship,
which
was
held
back
in
February
in
conjunction
with
our
mixed
doubles
championship,"
Baar
said.
"Some
of
the
older
players
re-
ally
enjoy
it
because
when
they
can't
play
singles
any
longer,
they
can
still
cover
half
a
court
and
enjoy
the
com-
petition."
The
defending
champions
of
the
men's
open
division
are
Mark
Mur-
phy
and
Brendan
Baar,
and
the
women's
championship
is
wide
open
as
it
wasn't
contested
last
spring.
Whether
they're
competing
in
the
top
division
or
trying
to
be
the
best
in
their
age
bracket,
players
are
sure
to
bring
their
"A"
games
for
the
club
championships.
Interested
players
can
register
with
the
tennis
lounge
–
in
person
or
over
the
phone
–
until
about
five
days
before
the
tournament.
