TRICITYMED.ORG/PRIMARYCARE • 855.222.8262 ISN'T IT TIME FOR YOUR TUNE UP? MEN SPEND MORE TIME WORKING ON THEIR CAR THAN ON THEIR HEALTH WIRED FOR GROWTH n STUDY SHOWS IMPACT OF TECH INDUSTRY ALONG HIGHWAY 78 A recent study undertaken by Innovate 78 – a collaboration connecting businesses in Carls- bad, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista – has revealed how vital tech- nology firms are to the local economy. Contributing more than $6.1 million to the corridor's economy each year and employing nearly 25,000 people, tech along the 78 has experienced sig- nificant growth in recent years and has made the re- gion a great place for com- panies to do business and for workers to find quality, high-paying jobs in biotechnology and biomedical devices; information and communications technology; and de- fense, aerospace and transportation manufacturing. "We always want to support growing industries and ones that have a sub- stantial impact on employment in in- dustries that provide a lot of oppor- tunities," said Matthew Sanford, the di- rector of economic development for the San Diego Regional Economic Develop- ment Council. "We had known anecdo- tally that tech is a growing sector here, but we wanted to have data that sup- ported that." Among the key takeaways for San- ford was that a majority of tech jobs along Highway 78 were in biotech and that 60 percent of entry-level tech jobs locally don't require a bachelor's degree. "Tech is not just semiconductors and software," Sanford said. "There's really a diversity of tech jobs in a number of different industries." – GREG BALL CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE INNOVATE 78 STUDY
