It's the time of year for travel and tourism to flourish
S
ummer is a great time of year for the travel and
tourism industry. It's when families are more likely to
pack their bags, jump in the car or hop on a plane and
see what the world around them has to offer.
A pair of upcoming events featured in this edi-
tion of the Certified Insider underscore the im-
portance of taking a vacation every so often.
First up is National Travel and Tourism
Week, set for May 3-11. This year's theme is
the Travel Effect, an awareness campaign
hatched from new research detailing the bene-
fits of vacationing to the economy, as well as to
good health and an improved quality of life.
In late June, the 32nd edition of the California Travel Sum-
mit returns to Los Angeles with an array of educational and
networking opportunities geared toward assisting profes-
sionals in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

important initiatives – and pledge to continue devoting our
support and resources when it comes to getting the word out
about the joy of exploring new frontiers.

to be named june 1

ertified Folder Display Service re-
cently announced the establishment
of the Anne Marie Fearn (AMF) Memorial
Scholarship Award, in which six
academic scholarships totalling
$17,500, will be awarded each
year to advertisers, merchandis-
ers (display rack locations) and employees
in honor of Certified's long-time Chair-
man. Winners will be announced June 1.
