NEWSMAKERS < CHARLOTTE BOWEN A second-year athlete at the University of Virginia, Charlotte Bowen was one of three divers and 14 swimmers who helped lead the school to its 3rst NCAA national championship in March. Daughter of members Rob and Danielle Bowen, the Dana Hills High School graduate and her fellow Cavaliers overcame a challeng- ing season, but stayed healthy, worked together and be- came the 3rst school in the history of the ACC to win a national title in swimming and diving. < HOLLY PARKER Holly Parker ended her water polo career at USC with a splash. The daughter of members Brian and Kim Parker, Holly played as the top goalie for the Trojans in a season in which they went 22-1, and in May recorded the largest margin of victory in an NCAA women's water polo national championship game, defeating cross-town rival UCLA 18-9. Holly collected a career-high 13 saves in the game – second highest in USC championship history – and was se- lected to the NCAA All-Tournament First Team. THE DIVOT | SUMMER 2021 • 13 Shining stars  El Niguel Country Club athletes play major roles in helping their college teams win national championships < CLAY FEAGLER When the 2020 season ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pepperdine men's golf team was ranked No. 1 in the country, but was denied a shot at a national championship. Clay Feagler made sure the Waves would not be denied again. In early June, the 3fth-year senior secured the 3nal point in match play to help the Waves defeat the University of Oklahoma 3-2 for the school's second NCAA Division 1 men's golf na- tional championship. Clay, the son of members Troy and Caryn Feagler, posted a 3-0 record in match play.
