■ LOS CAB HOLIDAY EVENTS GIVE MEMBERS A
CHANCE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY
L
os Cab's annual Gift Wrapping Party is scheduled
for Tuesday, December 17, when members will
gather for a tennis social, lunch and some holiday
cheer as they wrap presents to be given to a family
in need as part of the club's 16th Adopt-A-Family event.
Approximately 25-35 members are expected to attend.
"We have been doing this for many years, and it's very im-
portant because we get to give back to those not as fortu-
nate," said Tracy Harris at the Tennis Desk.
Working with the local non-profit Share Our Selves, Los
Cab will be assigned to a local family and given details on
each family member, including their ages, clothing sizes and
wish lists. Registration fees for the tennis social subsidize the
costs of the gifts, which are typically toys and warm winter
clothes for the kids, and whatever may be on the parents'
lists. The club also provides a gift card to Stater Brothers to
help the family put together a holiday dinner.
All wrapping paper, bows, gift tags and other supplies are
provided for the wrapping party, and there are usually a few
holiday-themed games played along with Christ-
mas music to add to the festive atmosphere.
Another great way to get involved in
sharing the holiday spirit at Los Cab can
be found in the donation boxes throughout
the club for the Toys for Tots gift collection
that is held each December. Members can bring a
new, unwrapped toy and drop it in the boxes located
at the front entrance, in the fitness area, by the tennis
pro shop and by the cafe. Toys suitable for all ages of
children are welcome, and there are no price limits.
For any individuals who aren't yet members but are con-
sidering joining Los Cab, they can have their initiation fees
waived simply by donating a toy.
