JULY 2019 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ 3 TOP YOUNG PLAYERS COMPETE AT LOS CAB IN JUNIOR SECTIONALS M ore than 1,000 of the best young tennis players in the region de- scended upon Los Cab June 15-17 and June 19-23 for what has been an annual tradition at the club for more than four decades – the Southern California Ten- nis Association Junior Sectionals. Contested for the 117th time this summer, the event over the years has seen many of its competitors go on to become the top professionals in the sport. The SCTA Level 1 event, also a USTA Level 3 event, included divisions for boys and girls from 10U to 18U, as well as boys and girls 18U doubles Second-seeded Alexander Petrov captured the boys 18 singles title, while third-seeded Maya Pitts won the top singles division for girls. "Los Cab has hosted many Sectional Championships over the years and is a historical piece of USTA Southern Cali- fornia Junior Sectionals," said Trevor Kronemann, Director of Junior Tennis for the USTA in Southern California. CHAMPIONSHIP TENNIS BELLY DANCING CLASSES ADD TO EXPANDING FITNESS MENU TRY SOMETHING NEW… T he ancient art of belly dancing traces its roots back hundreds of years to the Mid- dle East, and now Los Cab members can ex- perience it as part of their fitness routine thanks to a newly offered class. Belly dancing classes are now available Monday and Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m. in the Pilates studio, where instructor Sherri takes participants through the expressive movements – whether they're experienced belly dancers or just trying it for the first time. There's even the option to try sword belly dancing, in which a sword is incorporated into the routine. "It's a great core workout," said Group Fit- ness Program Manager Marianne Grossman, adding that the class is definitely unique and can spice up your usual gym routine. .......................................................................... > WATCH video on our Facebook page! GET YOUR GAME ON! ■ ADULT SECTIONALS RETURN TO LOS CAB T he Southern California Tennis Association Adult 18-and-over Sec- tional Championships are re- turning to Los Cab, allowing members to put their competi- tive spirit to the test with some high-level play and plenty on the line. From July 26-28, men's and women's play for the 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0+ levels will be con- tested at Los Cab and three other Orange County clubs. Men's and women's 3.5 and 4.5 matches will be played August 2-4 at Los Cab and two other local clubs.
