TEACHING
PILATES

Cab
has
a
new
face
on
the
per-
sonal
training
staff,
and
mem-
bers
are
already
getting
to
know
one
of
the
club's
most
recent
additions.
Luba
Krym
joined
the
staff
earlier
this
spring
and
came
to
Los
Cab
exclu-
sively
to
teach
Pilates.
She
currently
teaches
two
mat
classes
per
week
and
one
Pilates
Reformer
class,
and
may
add
to
that
as
interest
grows.
Krym
also
offers
sessions
with
individuals
and
small
groups.
"She
has
already
been
a
great
addi-
tion
to
our
team,"
said
Peggy
Pocher,
the
head
fitness
trainer
at
Los
Cab
who
met
Krym
when
they
were
both
studying
to
become
certified
in
teach-
ing
Pilates
at
Orange
Coast
College
in
Costa
Mesa.
Pocher
has
long
been
a
proponent
of
Pilates,
and
is
excited
about
a
recent
change
at
the
club
that
has
created
sep-
arate
spaces
for
mat
and
Reformer
classes.
She
said
that
the
ultimate
goal
for
anyone
practicing
Pilates
is
to
mas-
ter
the
form's
six
core
principles:
con-
centration,
centering,
precision,
control,
flow
and
breathing.
The
benefits
are
many,
she
said.
Prac-
ticing
Pilates
builds
strength,
increases
flexibility
and
helps
prevent
injuries
–
so
it's
an
especially
useful
tool
for
ath-
letes
who
spend
the
majority
of
their
time
playing
other
sports.
The
focus
and
concentration
required
for
Pilates
breaks
everything
down
to
its
simplest
form,
right
down
to
your
breathing.
That
can
translate
into
improved
focus
and
concentration
in
all
aspects
of
your
day
–
from
work
to
family
life
and
beyond.
Those
who
are
dedicated
to
Pilates
often
find
that
they're
keenly
aware
of
their
bodies
and
how
they
move,
whether
they're
on
the
tennis
court
or
wrangling
their
kids.
"A
lot
of
my
long-time
Pilates
clients
tell
me
they
think
about
how
their
body
moves
all
the
time,"
Pocher
said.
