6 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ JUNE 2019 ● MEET THE TEAM SHAPING UP! ■ DAMON LAMBERT BRINGS KNOWLEDGE AND DEDICATION TO PERSONAL TRAINING W hile most might consider Damon Lambert to be the newest personal trainer at Los Cab Sports Village, he leans more toward the title of coach. With years of experience in the field, he is eager to help members start or continue on their fitness journeys. He's the type of guy who's in perpetual mo- tion, but we caught up with him briefly to learn more about his new job and his approach to staying in shape. ◆ ◆ ◆ What does your job entail and what are your pri- mary responsibilities? My primary responsibility is to provide safe, effective exercise instruction while creating a non-threatening environment. I believe my job entails, in large part, a critical focus on awareness and accounta- bility. I must have the awareness to continually assess the current state, and the personal accountability to pro- vide help to my clients and manage the road to their an- ticipated outcome. ◆ ◆ ◆ What attracted you to Los Cab? Los Cab is a pre- mier facility with so much to offer. There is something here for athletes and exercise buffs alike. It's always nice to find gems like this that offer so much more than you would expect. I have had a family membership here for over a year and I really enjoy the fact that there is always something to do not only for me, but also for both my 15- and 9-year-old kids. ◆ ◆ ◆ How would you describe your personal training style? I offer a unique style of goal-acquisition tech- niques. My educational background is in physical, mental and emotional development. This philosophy suggests that any physical changes are a result of changes in thoughts and emotions. Using this premise, I challenge the mind and emotions to bring about physi- cal change. ◆ ◆ ◆ When did you realize you wanted to be a trainer and what led to that decision? My realization came while I was in the military. I was a young, sheltered, super thin kid who had never been away from home. I enlisted in the Navy when I was just 17. Scared and afraid, bootcamp activities offered a chance to deal with my fears. It was there I fell in love with exercise. ◆ ◆ ◆ What is the most rewarding thing about being a personal trainer? Helping people see their own possibilities. Seeing a person move from having their thoughts, emotions and actions in line with limitations to those that are in line with possibilities is a great expe- rience to be able to share with someone. ◆ ◆ ◆ What is the best workout tip you've ever re- ceived? Exercise shortens muscle, so look to increase your range of motion before looking to get stronger. ◆ ◆ ◆ What is one thing someone might be surprised to know about you? That I look a lot younger than what I really am … but I won't tell my age! Damon Lambert is the newest addition to the Los Cab staff.
