2 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ MAY 2019 ● LOOKING AHEAD MAKING A SPLASH! ■ POOL PARTY AND TENNIS DOO DAH RETURN ON MEMORIAL DAY AS LOS CAB CELEBRATES THE UNOFFICIAL START OF SUMMER I t's the most wonderful time of the year at Los Cab Sports Village. No, we're not talking about the winter holidays – we're referring to the days ahead that will be filled with splashing in the pool and social competition on the tennis courts. The club's annual Memorial Day Pool Party and Tennis Doo Dah is scheduled for Monday, May 27, as members and their guests will kick off the summer season with one of the most spirited events of the year. "We're looking forward to everyone coming out and enjoying a fun day to- gether at Los Cab," said the Tennis Desk's Tracy Harris. "To be able to hang out with the kids at the pool is a great way to kick off summer." The pool party is set to run from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and will feature games for adults and kids of all ages, over- sized inflatables and water slides. Food trucks will be brought in for the day serving up hamburgers and hot dogs. Tennis action will begin at 9:30 a.m. Players will compete on teams, and with no serving required the emphasis is more on maximizing enjoyment rather than defeating your opponents. "The Tennis Doo Dah is always a lot of fun, and this is the one time of the year when we get the most players reg- istered," Harris said, estimating that 100 or more people will participate. Also scheduled for Memorial Day is Los Cab's next Open House, where both members and guests will get to check out what's new at the club. A handful of group fitness classes that aren't normally offered on Mondays will take place, and attendees can check out the new area for Pilates Reformer and Studio classes. The event is open to the public, and members are encour- aged to spread the word. PERSONAL BEST W ith summer right around the cor- ner, there are some ex- citing new changes in and around the fitness center at Los Cab. For starters, Damon Lambert (pictured below) has joined the personal training staff. Having been part of the Jackson-Bridge Tennis Academy at Los Cab, he's a familiar face around the club. "We're excited to have him," said Head Fitness Trainer Peggy Pocher. "He has a background in the psy- chology of fitness train- ing, so he brings a new element to our staff." Another new staff member, Lyba Krym, will soon begin substi- tuting as an instructor for Pilates classes. And speaking of Pilates, Pocher is also ex- cited about the newly opened ap- paratus stu- dio, which is located above the fitness center by the yoga studio and now offers a dedicated space for apparatus workouts. Relocating those classes has opened up additional space for mat classes in the Pilates studio. "It's a very nice stu- dio, and we're settling in well there," she said. ....................................... > VISIT loscab.com/ yoga-pilates.
