4 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ APRIL 2019 ● FOR THE KIDS THE JOY SPRING BRINGS P erhaps you've made the trip out to the desert for the epic annual music festival known as Coachella, or are planning to do so for the first time this month. Now, your kids can feel like they're taking part with Los Cab's next Kids' Night Out, appropriately themed "Kidchella." The Friday, April 12, event will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the club, where kids will enjoy a crafts table, a talent show where they can choose their own song or dance like the musi- cians performing at Coachella, games and prizes, plus dinner, dessert and a movie. But that's not all the club has in store for kids this month. With the excitement of the Easter bunny's arrival, Los Cab will hold a holiday celebration Saturday, April 20, from 10-11 a.m. The festivities will include an Easter egg hunt for kids of all ages, as well as an opportunity for children to have their pic- tures taken with the Easter bunny and create holiday-themed crafts. The event will conclude with light refreshments for all those in attendance. Because of the event's popularity, reser- vations are encouraged and can made at the child care desk. .................................................................................................... > VISIT loscab.com/child-care for more information. CELEBRATING THE SEASON KNOWLEDGE BASE ............................ HIGHER EDUCATION ■ TOWNSQUARE LEARNING CENTER PLANS FIRST SUMMER PROGRAMMING A fter opening as American Kiddo Academy last fall, the educa- tional arm of Los Cab's child care department has a new name, Townsquare Learning Center. And while the moniker has changed, its mission is the same: to serve as an after- school program that educates kids in grades 3-5 in S.T.E.A.M. subjects (science, technol- ogy, engineering, arts and math), offer tutor- ing and homework assistance, and motivate kids to achieve academic success by keeping them engaged and excited about learning. "Most people have heard of S.T.E.M. edu- cation, but we add arts into that equation," said Townsquare Learning Center's General Manager Andy Chan. "We're combining technology and art in things like our robotics classes and multimedia production." Tutoring is offered in English and math, and students can participate in elective pro- grams such as robotics, theater, art, movie and music production, sports and more. For those parents planning ahead, regis- tration is now open for summer programs, which will be available Monday-Friday from June 17-August 31. Kids ages 7-12 will expe- rience hands-on learning (highlights include robotics, GarageBand and iMovie) and en- gage in various athletic activities. Parents can enroll their children for the entire summer or specific weeks. ............................................................................... > Townsquare Learning Center is open from 3-6 p.m. on school days.
