4 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ NOVEMBER 2018 ● AROUND THE CLUB HALLOWEEN PARADE A HIT WITH KIDS A s is custom, the annual Halloween parade and party at Los Cab consists of more treats than tricks, and this year's event on October 31 was no different. More than a dozen kids joined in the festivities, and while none of them dressed up as ghosts or goblins, there were plenty of super heroes, princesses and adorable animals. Following the pa- rade, kids enjoyed a lunch party complete with snacks and refreshments, cupcakes and a bounce house. Next up is Kids' Night Out, which is set for Friday, November 9 from 6-9:30 p.m. featuring a "Friendsgiving" concept with Thanksgiving-themed crafts as well as dinner and a movie. A TREAT FOR ALL INITIATION FEES WAIVED WITH TOYS FOR TOTS DONATION SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION F or members who have friends or family consider- ing joining Los Cab, the holi- day season is ideal as the club is offering a new member special that runs now through December 23. PICKLEBALL SOCIAL .............................. LEISURE ACTIVITY ■ DEBUT GET-TOGETHER IS A SMASH T hanks to a fast pace of play and smaller courts that are easier to cover, the sport of pickleball has gained a dedicated fan base across the country. The craze has taken hold at Los Cab Sports Village as the club held its debut Pick- leball Social on October 12. Organized by tennis member Marji Achzenick, the outing attracted approximately 25 players who en- joyed a fun and competitive event played in a King and Queen of the Hill format. Sand- wiches and snacks were served and there were raffle drawings for prizes that included Los Cab-logoed hats and backpacks. "Everyone really had a lot of fun," said events coordinator Thao Le. "We felt like it was a great turnout for our first outing." Le said she expects more Pickleball So- cials to find their way onto the club's events calendar. The game has become very popu- lar with Los Cab tennis members, who come out in droves every Tuesday and Friday, when one of the tennis courts is transformed into two courts for pickleball.
