GROUP EFFORT
■ CLASS SETTINGS PROVIDE UNIQUE TRAINING
A
lthough Los Cab's
main pool remains
closed for refur-
bishment, the response to
new introductory aqua fit-
ness classes offered in the
pool near the club's condos
as well as land-based group
exercise classes in the main
studio have been terrific, ac-
cording to Fitness Director
Marianne Grossman.
"We have had very
good attendance at our
'condo pool' for the aquatics
classes while our main pool
is closed," Grossman said.
"And our land-based
classes, especially the bal-
ance class among seniors on
Monday, Wednesday and
Friday at 11:15 a.m., are also
well-attended."
Other group classes in-
clude cycling, bodypump,
yoga and Pilates.
The most recent Pilates
session, which is taught by
personal trainer and in-
structor Peggy Porcher,
ended on December 4, but a
new session will be offered
in 2018.
"Pilates differs from
other group fitness for-
mats," Grossman said. "The
pace of the class is slower,
and participants really need
to focus and learn how to
use the deeper layers of
muscle. There is a mind-
body connection that is very
important, along with
breathing. Patience is re-
quired – give yourself a
couple of sessions to get a
feel for the class format."

Taught by Peggy Porcher in the Los Cab
Pilates Studio, classes will run Monday and
Wednesday from 7-7:55 a.m. January 8
through January 31, as well as Tuesday and
Thursday from 5:30-6:25 p.m. January 9
through February 1. Advance registration is
