L os Cab Sports Vil- lage celebrates its 40th anniversary this month with two fam- ily-friendly special events: A Halloween Casino Night on Friday, Oct. 20, and Tennis Calcutta Oct. 20-22. The Halloween Casino Night kicks off the week- end, which also includes a Tennis Calcutta. It is tradi- tionally Los Cab's most popular and well-attended event of the year, said Julie Frey. The $45 entry ticket in- cludes dinner, two drink tickets, and $100 in casino chips, which can be played for raffle tickets and a chance to win prizes that include an Apple Watch 2, iPad Pro, his-and-hers bi- cycles, spa gift certificates, and a two-night, three-day Catalina getaway. Attendees also can dress up in hopes of nab- bing the scariest, funniest or cutest costume, and kids will be entertained with a pumpkin patch, pizza and bounce house. "It makes for a great evening for all," Frey said. For $85, guests can enjoy the Casino Night as well as the two-day Tennis Calcutta, which includes tennis and lunch, along with prizes for the win- ners. The tennis event is members-only, but guests are welcome at the party. "This celebration will mark Los Cab's 40th year promoting a happy, healthy and active lifestyle for families and athletes," Frey said. "And we'd like to pay tribute to our founder Jack Cameron for his commitment to this place many members and families fondly refer to as their home away home. MATER DEI GIRLS RETURN HOME TO LOS CAB The Mater Dei girl's tennis team has called Los Cab home for some 15 years and coach Mike Moorewood is excited with the prospects coming off of last year's first-place finish in the Trinity League. "We are young but talented with lots of energy," Moorewood said. The girls tennis season runs through the beginning of December and spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on the team.
