2 ❘ TEE TIMES ❘ May/June 2017 HEARTFELT APPRECIATION ■ EL CAB STAFF HELPED MAKE THIS YEAR'S GAUCHO CLASSIC THE BEST EVER I have no doubt that our guests left ready to return to their home clubs raving about how El Cab does it right. The course was in impeccable shape and the tournament ran smoothly from start to finish. Moving 120 players around the course in a timely manner while everyone grinds over slippery 3-foot downhill putts that sometimes ran 10 feet past the hole is no easy task. I want to thank everyone on our staff for making it an unforgettable weekend. I can't possibly call everyone out, but I feel it is im- portant to recognize the hard work by these individu- als and their staffs: Phil Lopez, General Manager. Was there from start to finish overseeing everything, rubbing shoulders with members and guests, and I don't think he ever took off his tie despite 90-degree-plus weather. Mark Taylor and Tasha Browner Bohlig, Head Golf Professional & Director of Instruction. Ran every as- pect of the competition as well as overseeing all the de- tails that go into pulling off an event of this magnitude. We couldn't have done this without them. Brett Mormon, Zach Zuckmann and Trevor Cas- sidy, Assistant Golf Professionals. Also there from start to finish helping to run every aspect of the tournament, assisting members and guests, and despite the heat, all stayed stylish the entire weekend. Brent Feiland, our beloved Starter and an El Cab Institution in his own right. Helping with logistics in his usual unflappable style with an ever-present smile. Doug Meadows, Golf Course Superintendent. Be- tween Doug and his hard-working staff, the course was in amazing shape – from perfectly cut fairways, a secondary and primary rough, bunkers in perfect shape that would make any Aussie proud, and greens that were receptive and treacherous in their speed. Dan Cincis and Lauren Manoff, Executive Chef & Special Events Director. The food was amazing, plen- tiful and imaginative. I can't say enough about their hard work and their entire staff who worked extremely hard to make the weekend so enjoyable. Juan Escalante, Director of Clubhouse Mainte- nance and Security. Juan's crew worked long hours moving equipment, tables, chairs, and scoreboards endlessly and without flaw. They are the unsung he- roes of the club, and I am so appreciative of their work. Romy Palis, Men's Locker Room Manager. Romy and his staff work tirelessly. Their effort was important to the enjoyment of our members and guests. In mentioning people by name I run the risk of leav- ing someone out – I can't possibly name every individ- ual who worked hard to make the weekend a success, so I will rely on the department heads to express my gratitude. Thank you all once again for a mammoth undertak- ing, and always with a smile. You made this tourna- ment a success. – SCOTT COHEN Club President ● PRESIDENT'S NOTE O ver the last year I have been very dedicated to the role entrusted to me by the membership – so much so that sometimes my friends have had to remind me that I'm a member first and need to stop once in a while to enjoy this privilege that is El Cab. The weekend of April 20-22, I did just that as El Cab welcomed guests from across the South- land – and indeed from across the country – to join us for our annual Gaucho Classic. It is my favorite weekend of the year and I would be terribly remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to thank our tremendous staff for their dedication over the three days that helped make it the best Gaucho ever.
