SHINING EXAMPLES n EVIDENCE OF A THRIVING ECONOMY ABOUNDS W ith 2016 coming to a close, we celebrate another successful year on the business front in North San Diego County. From the findings revealed at our Economic Summit ear- lier this year, we know that despite some challenges still on the horizon the economy in the region is still strong and diverse. This issue of the Business Journal will provide you with plenty of an- ecdotal evidence of that. Take, for instance, the North City devel- opment in San Marcos. Residents are start- ing to move into a new 200-home apartment community at the mixed-use development, and more and more businesses are moving in as well. It's another big step forward for a project that began in 2013 and that will be ongoing for the next 10 years. North County is getting another glimpse of the future, too, with projects such as the Alpine Library, a Zero Net Energy building designed to produce as much energy as it con- sumes. Find out in this issue what other similar projects are coming this way. And, finally, if you like music, check out the article on how the industry impacts North County, bringing a note of har- mony to our economy and culture.
