nown today for its incredible land and
water activities, Catalina Island has a
rich history that stretches back to
when it was first inhabited 8,000 years ago.
The island has served as a location for Holly-
wood films and was once owned by William
Wrigley, Jr., of Wrigley chewing gum fame.

ith its 100-year anniversary on the
horizon in 2016, the San Diego Zoo
has entertained visitors for a cen-
tury as the home to more than 3,700 rare and
endangered animals representing some 650
species and subspecies, and a botanical col-
lection of more than 700,000 exotic plants.

he berry farm established by the Knott
family in the early 1920s now thrills
guests with roller coasters, water rides,
and historical tours, and is the 13th most-vis-
ited theme park in North America. The park
also features shopping, a replica Ghost Town,
and Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant.
