10 • THE DIVOT | WINTER 2022 A year to remember 2021 featured many great achievements BY ANITA CLARK, WGA CHAIRMAN I t's been an honor and privilege to serve as WGA Chair for the past two years, and I would like to welcome Tricia Baumgardner as our 2022 WGA Chair – we will be in excellent hands! I am proud of our membership and our wonderful board, and grateful to be part of this inclusive organization. Here's a recap of our year and annual report as of December 2021: > In person General Meetings re- sumed June 22 after a 16-month hiatus. It's been delightful to once again meet in person and have lunch together. We all missed the camaraderie! > We have 210 WGA members: 161 full tournament; 44 handicap only; and five associate. We welcomed 28 new members in 2021. Golf is popular! > Our WGA is all about participation. We held 49 events with Major Tourna- ments, Sweeps, and Member-Guest Days. > A total of 836 participants played in 11 major tournaments. Six Member- Guest Days added another 360 players. A huge Thank You to our tournament chairs, their committees, and Guest Day and Major Tournament chairs. We ap- preciate your hard work and planning. > WGA members posted almost 7,000 18-hole rounds and 2,200-plus 9-hole rounds, a 20% increase over 2020. WGA rounds represented 17% of the club's total of 55,000 rounds! > Tuesday Sweeps totaled 1,165 rounds over 32 weeks. Payouts totaled $4,405 to 450 participants. > Our 2021 WGA Club Champion is Tricia Baumgardner. We are very proud of her and for competing in the Tourna- ment of Champions at Bear Creek. > Our 2021 El Niguel Team led by Tricia Baumgardner and Kathy Dubia had 45 members. We finished third gross out of five teams and look forward to returning to three full divisions and 15 teams in 2022 with Terri Donahue as our captain. > Nifty Niners averages 10-12 players per week, starting with a clinic, followed by golf and lunch. Thank you, Kathy Aldrian and committee of willing volunteers for coordinating. > The 2022 roster books will be dis- tributed in late January. Check out the Club Calendar on the ENCC website for details; all WGA events are online. Kudos to the 2021 WGA Board for its excellent service and to outgoing members Ginger Geidt, Ann Morris, and Joanie Roselli. You have helped make our events stand out! Welcome new 2022 Board members Kathy Karahalios, Kristy Allan and Rikki Daniels, and con- tinuing members Anita Clark, Terri Do- nahue, Kathy Dubia, Diana Gillis, Lois Smith and Tina Wilson. Tricia and I are excited and looking forward to a good, healthy year for us all. We thank you for being so flexible and supportive to us on the WGA Board and our fabulous El Niguel staff! MINI MEMBER-GUEST WINNERS The WGA's Mini Member-Guest took place on December 2. Winners included, clockwise from top left, Candy McBrayer, Kitty Knauer, Bonnie Cosgrove, Carol Banks, Kathy Dubia, Denise Wintrode, Tina Wilson, Kristi Allan, Sarah Van Wagner and Terri Moore.
