Taking
stock
Supply chain issues
creating challenges
BY JODY FLEMMING,
RETAIL MANAGER
R
eceiving product ship-
ments in a timely manner
continues to be a major
hurdle in the boom-
ing golf industry.
Gone are the days
when you could
come into the shop,
ask us to place a
special order and
have it arrive in a few days.
Now, unfortunately, the re-
sponse is more likely to be, "You
want what by when?"
Many items are simply un-
available and when we can get an
order placed, we are often quoted
delivery times that are six to 10
months out. Additionally, freight
charges are astronomical and
most vendors are adding a sur-
charge to every item, increasing
the supply challenges.
While I do not have a crystal
ball, it does appear there may not
be any significant improvement
with ongoing supply chain issues
until at least mid-2022. Please be
patient as we continue to work as
hard and as smart as we can to
navigate the supply chain disrup-
tions and have a shop filled with
great merchandise.
Let's all look forward to the
day when we once again have a
fully stocked selection on all
items and special order requests
can once again be quickly filled!
W
e all want to
use the begin-
ning of the
New Year to start fresh.
We invest in ourselves
by joining a class, a gym, a
club or simply developing
new habits. Typically, the goal to im-
prove whatever we set our minds to is
so that we can enjoy our friends, family
and most of all, our achievements.
This year, I would like to suggest a
goal for your golf game: I would like
you to define your golf motion – every-
thing from your posture at address,
through your swing, all the way to your
finish in a balanced position.
In short, learn how to move with
purpose so that you can become more
consistent.
This exercise will be different for ev-
eryone. Some might want to do it by
themselves and others might use their
golf coach to guide them.
In order to give you a head start,
here are four areas that I discuss with
my students:
> Posture
Tilting by pulling the hips back so
that the backside is out over the ankles
and feeling weight over the ankles.
> Takeaway motion
Feeling a rotation of the upper body
by pulling the club away using the right
shoulder.
> Transition
Where the club starts to change di-
rection and the lower left side; left
obliques, left latissimus dorsi muscle
(lats) and glutes engage to pull the
arms and club toward impact.
> Finish position
Standing on a straight left leg where
the weight is on the outside of the left
ankle.
Defining how to move and the direc-
tion of weight movement is key to not
only hitting better shots, but consis-
tency in the game.
Best of luck in the new year!
New year, new you!
