4 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ NOVEMBER 2019 ● AROUND THE CLUB CREATIVE NIGHTS FOR KIDS T here was no shortage of creativity at last month's Kids' Night Out as children went all out during the Halloween-themed evening at Los Cab that featured a Most Creative Costume con- test. Next up is the club's "Friendsgiving Kids' Night Out," set for Friday, November 8, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. With arts and crafts based on giving thanks, kids will be able to make as many pieces as they want to give to family, friends and teachers. There will also be din- ner, games and a movie. VISIT loscab.com/los-cab-child-care. MAKING MEMORIES BATTLE OF THE BULGE ................................ HOW TO KEEP OFF THE HOLIDAY POUNDS F rom Halloween candy to Thanksgiving turkey with all the fixings to other in- dulgences during the holiday season, it can seem nearly impossible to stay the course with your diet. That's why keeping a physical fitness mindset is so important this time of year, according to Fitness Director Marianne Grossman. "One of the things that I like to remind members of is that although the holidays are here, we still need to keep to our workout routines as much as possible," she said. For instance, you can mix in a little extra cardio, or change up your routine to add high-intensity interval training or group fit- ness classes. Or, you can include lap swim- ming if you're not a regular in the pool to challenge your muscles in new ways. These may be just the things you need to get your body burning extra calories. Grossman said she tells to her students that no matter how busy they get with par- ties, shopping and family get-togethers, pri- oritizing fitness will always pay dividends. "Who doesn't enjoy all the wonderful foods during the holiday season?" Grossman asked. "Of course, we all do – which is all the more reason to stay the course with regards to your fitness activities. We're open all dur- ing the season, and we want to encourage members to keep coming to the club." SCROLL through the slideshow to view more Halloween photos! W ith the holiday season right around the cor- ner, the club has adjusted its schedule slightly to accommodate members at a time when regular routines may be thrown out of whack. A number of group fitness classes will be available on Thanksgiving Day, and there will be a modified schedule on the Friday after the holiday for those who may need to compensate for overindulging on their turkey day favorites. The club will be closed on Christmas Day, and on Christmas Eve a limited selection of classes will be offered. Elsewhere on the group fitness front, those who haven't attended a Bodypump or CXWORX class recently will notice that both classes have re- cently undergone their quarterly re-launches, with new music and choreography to keep things fresh and interesting.
