E l Niguel's PGA Junior League team went to Monarch Beach Golf Links on a beautiful Sunday, June 30, and completed its season in remarkable fashion – undefeated! The team tied Monarch Beach, but finished in first-place in its divi- sion with a 4-0-2 record. This means El Niguel will have four junior players rostered on a 10-player All-Star team that has a chance to com- pete at a national level. It is with great pride that I will lead these amazing juniors as captain. Our team will compete in one of three local qualifiers with the winning team from each advancing to the Section Championship. Two teams will advance from the Alham- bra qualifier, and the Section Championship will be held August 24-25 at Industry Hills Golf Club. It has been extremely rewarding watching the teams compete and develop meaningful friendships, and it is a great environment for these kids to grow up in. For those interested, I am starting up a new league in August. It will consist of Coto de Caza, Mission Viejo, Talega, Tijeras Creek, Monarch Beach and Arroyo Trabuco, and will be a great opportunity for juniors to gain experi- ence on the course and to make new friends. If you have a junior ages 8-17, please contact me at jthormann@pga.com.
