A
s 2020 nears,
even with hand-
held technology
becoming a social
staple, there's still no substi-
tute for having hard copy
information in your hands.
According to a new survey
by Boston's Bentley Univer-
sity Center for Marketing
Technology, the use and effec-
tiveness of print information
is as palpable as ever for
hotel staffers when assisting
guests.
"The fact that almost 97
percent of hotel staff consider
visitor information either ex-
tremely or very important to
their operation and guests,
confirms the fact guests are
looking for things to see and
do during their stay," says
Bill Deering, Certified's Sen-
ior Vice President and Gen-
eral Manager.
According to Deering, this
latest survey confirms what
Certified and its clients rec-
ognize on a daily basis –
print is not dead! It re-affirms
the results of a 2018 visitor
study conducted by Bentley
University, that said printed
brochures and guides are the
No. 1 influencer of visitors in
market.
Unfortunately, it's not un-
common for the general man-
ager of a new hotel to
initially decline rack place-
ment, thinking hotel staff
and/or the Internet will pro-
vide whatever visitor infor-
mation their guests may
need.
Three months later the
same general manager is re-
questing one of Certified's
visitor information display
racks to assist their staff and
guests with finding things to
see and do.
Brochure distribution has
been around since 1899, and
continues to be an affordable,
effective and reliable way to
reach visitors!
