10 ❘ THE DIVOT ❘ MARCH 2019 ● WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION FEBRUARY MOST IMPROVED Maryly LeVeque went from 22.5 to 21.5 FEBRUARY LOW NET ROUND Linda Jo O'Kane shot 72 R ain washed away the second and third day of the WGA Member- Member, but the ladies had a great day of golf on the first day. El Niguel's Ladies Team Play squad, however, has been busy getting ready for its season, which began with a home match against SeaCliff Country Club on Thursday, March 14. The ENCC ladies were warriors out there and made it a close match, but SeaCliff ended up winning the gross and net divisions. Congratulations to the teams of Maureen Hadley/Susan Adams and Kathy Bannister/Tina Wilson for winning their gross and net matches. Other winning teams included Susan Kempf/Cheryl Sykes and Debbie Wulff/ Tricia Baumgardner. Prior to the start of the season, the team gathered on Thursday, February 28, for a final practice session, and then again on Friday, March 1, for a season kick-off event that included social activities and a putting contest that was creatively set up by Coach Jerome to highlight destinations such as Hawaii, Wine Country and the desert. Jan Stephenson was the winner of the contest. The team is looking forward to its next match March 26 at home against Mission Viejo Country Club. Best wishes on a successful season! S pring is around the corner and I'm looking for women out there who are new to the club, return- ing golfers, or newbies as El Niguel offers just the right pro- gram for you – the Nifty Niners. What is that? The Nifty Nin- ers meet every Thursday and hold a golf clinic with PGA teach- ing professional Wade Wilson from 9-9:30 a.m. Then we play nine holes of golf. Your reward for all your hard work is lunch with the bunch. Come on out now as there's no better way to meet new gals as well as learn to play golf.
