Marianne Grossman, the club's fitness director, said the club recently expanded TRX classes to include bat- tle ropes, medicine balls and tubing to keep mem- bers challenged. Another offering that has become among the most popular at Los Cab is the jab/cross/hook boxing class on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. And on July 22, the club will introduce the new Les Mills releases, meaning that new Bodypump and CX- WORX classes are coming soon. The new choreography and music will be intro- duced to members by a team of experienced coaches, and the event will feature a raffle with some great prizes. ............................................. > VISIT loscab.com/group- fitness to learn more. P eggy Pocher rarely slows down. As the head fitness trainer at Los Cab Sports Village, being in constant motion is essentially part of her job de- scription. For nearly two decades, she has been providing personal training, teaching various fitness classes and serving as the de facto dean of fitness at the club. Here are some of her thoughts on fitness, training and her time at Los Cab Sports Village: ◆ ◆ ◆ How long have you been a fitness trainer, and how long have you been at Los Cab? I have been here since May 2000 and a fitness trainer since 2002. ◆ ◆ ◆ What do you like most about what you do? I like to have a positive influence on people's health and well-being and like to think I help people change their lives. I come to know these people and their situa- tions, and very much enjoy helping them overcome their challenges to re- alize how strong they are in more ways than just physical. ◆ ◆ ◆ What do you enjoy most about teaching Pilates? I enjoy helping people find muscles they didn't know they had. Pilates helps one look at their day-to-day movement differ- ently. They improve their body awareness and overall well-being. Pilates is for everybody. It takes a lot of control, concentration, precision, breathing, centering, balance and focus to achieve success. ◆ ◆ ◆ How important do you feel it is for people to make fitness a priority in their lives, whether they're 7 or 77? It is an important priority – not only for physical health and well- being, but because being physically fit empowers people. It releases hor- mones that manage stress and keeps them cognitively sharp. ◆ ◆ ◆ What is your favorite form of ex- ercise? I think it is crucial to incorpo- rate cross training. Including a variety of exercises and different formats is a very important part of maintaining a well-balanced fitness regimen. ............................................................ > VISIT loscab.com/yoga-pilates-trx for more information and to view the upcoming class schedule.
