4 ❘ LOS CAB LIFE ❘ JULY 2018 ● AROUND THE CLUB LOS CAB PUTS A SPARK IN THE FOURTH L os Cab Sports Village was the place to be on the Fourth of July as the tennis courts and pool area were rocking with members and guests celebrating Independence Day. Tennis Organizer Tracy Harris arranged a mixer/round- robin, with Jason Hall, Nicole Doan, Sherri Hall and Julie Le all emerging as winners. Meanwhile, nearly 300 people gathered for the pool party, with activities including a giant inflatable slide, a watermelon-eating contest, an inflatable animal race, a rubber duck-catching contest, inflatable ring toss and more. "We'd like to send out a big thank you to all of the staff who give up their holidays to make these days so special," said Los Cab Co-Owner Carri Baar. "Our awesome staff helps families create lifelong memories." INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION! SUMMER YOUTH ACTIVITIES IN FULL SWING AT LOS CAB WHERE A KID CAN BE A KID F or kids, summer is when memories are made. At Los Cab, there are plenty of new activities where they can do just that. For starters, the club's next Kids Night Out is set for Friday, July 13, from 6-9:30 p.m. The "Surf's Up" beach-themed party welcomes kids to make their own S'mores and enjoy dinner, a movie, games and prizes, while parents take the time to enjoy an evening out after dropping them off. If you're looking to get your children in- volved in regular activities at Los Cab, the club is offering something different each day of the week from June 25-September 4. The Kids' Summer Activities run from 10- 11 a.m. every Monday through Friday and include activities such as crafts, gym class, picnics, and movie and treat day. ....................................................................... > LEARN MORE at loscab.com/childcare. POOL RULES! .................... SAFETY FIRST ■ TOP 3 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW W hile pool time at Los Cab is often a highlight of the season for kids and adults alike, there are certain things to keep in mind to make it enjoyable for all. General Manager Michael Kane offers these three tips for staying safe around the pools: >> Keep a close eye on kids. A good rule of thumb is to never let kids out of your sight. Young swimmers can get in trouble in the water quickly, and swift action can help avoid an emergency situation. We are a "no lifeguard on duty" pool, so it's particularly important to keep an eye on kids in the pool. >> Sign up for swimming lessons. The best way to develop confident swimmers is for them to learn from qualified instructors. Your kid doesn't have to become an Olympic butter- fly champion, but learning the basics will keep them safe and help them enjoy the water. >> Apply (and re-apply) sunscreen. Using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 is the best way to avoid sunburns, and this is particularly important around the pool as reflection off the water intensifies the sun's impact on your skin. Remember to re-apply every 2-3 hours.
